WATER SCHEMES

The company operates a total of ten water schemes that provide water to residents of kisii and nyamira county. The schemes are as below.

KEGATI WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 6000 meteres cubic per day.

Kegati water works supplies clean, safe and potable water to Kegati, Bobaracho, Menyinkwa, Kisii Town and Suneka. The Kegati Water Works plant started in 1978.

NYAMIRA WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 3200 meteres cubic per day.

Nyamira Water treatment works with a capacity of 3200m 3 /day and was constructed in 1978 to serve Nyamira and Kebirigo Towns.

NYAKOMISARO WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 800 meteres cubic per day.

Nyakomisaro water treatment works with a capacity of 800m3/day. This water supply provides water by gravity to mainly Kisii Town. The Water works plant was started in 1930s.

NYANGORI WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 3200 meteres cubic per day.

Nyangori water treatment works with a capacity of 3200m3/day is currently under final stages of construction to produce water to meet the demands of the growing Keroka Town and environs.

KEROKA WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 600 meteres cubic per day.

Keroka water treatment works with a capacity to produce 600m3/day and was constructed in 1979 to provide water to Keroka Town and its environs.

GESUSU WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 600 meteres cubic per day.

Gesusu Water treatment works was constructed in the 1990s and provides water to Gesususu town and its environs. A total of 600m3/day is provided.

OGEMBO WATER TREATMENT WORKS

Capacity 600 meteres cubic per day.

Ogembo water treatment works with a capacity of 600m3/day draws raw water from the Gucha River. It was constructed in 1990s. the Ogembo town also receives water from the Mosora springs gravity schemes which deliver 600m3/day from Mosora area of Nyamache sub-county in Kisii county.

TABAKA SPRINGS

Capacity 600 meteres cubic per day.

Tabaka springs have been developed with capacity of 600m3/day and mainly saves Tabaka town and its environs.

SUNEKA WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

Capacity 1500 meteres cubic per day.

Suneka sewage treatment plant was constructed in 1994 and treats at least 1500m3/day of wastewater drawn from Kisii town and its environs. Since there is no other full sewage treatment plant in the whole of Kisii and Nyamira Counties other than Suneka. It has become common for individuals and institutions to exhaust their septic tanks and subsequently discharged into GWASCO sewer systems under the watchful eye of the GWASCO staff. GWASCO has an exhauster service vehicle which is hired at affordable prices to provide exhauster services.
